The Cincinnati Bengals are routinely viewed as one of the AFC’s top teams.

They are one of the few teams to overcome the brilliance of Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs, a sign they are an AFC contender.

When discussing the Bengals, many analysts talk about Joe Burrow and their dominant offense.

However, the Bengals’ defense is an asset, a vital part of their success.

In a recent press conference shared via Pro Football Talk, head coach Zac Taylor showcased one of their star defenders.

When talking about Chidobe Awuzie, Taylor said, “He’s physically as talented as anyone, so there’s a lot that he brings to the table that people see and that people don’t see.”

Awuzie tore his ACL during Week 8 of the 2022 season, a devastating blow to their secondary.

Thankfully, Taylor believes he’ll start for the Bengals in their season opener against the Cleveland Browns.

Awuzie’s presence should make Deshaun Watson’s life more difficult, as he will work tirelessly to lock down Browns receivers.

The Browns are coming off a down year, especially given Watson only played in six games.

If the Bengals can begin the season by handing the Browns a loss, it might be a telling sign of how the rest of the year could go.

The Bengals have dominated the AFC North since the emergence of Burrow, leading the offense and the franchise with a winning mindset.

Can Awuzie continue to be a leader in their defense, bringing the Bengals another AFC North victory?
