1 Team Has Emerged As Favorite To Land Justin Fields

The Chicago Bears, for the second year in a row, have the No. 1 pick in the NFL Draft, and this time, they hold that pick because they traded last year’s No. 1 pick to the Carolina Panthers.

With the Panthers finishing with the league’s worst record, the Bears now have a decision to make: keep the pick and continue to roll with quarterback Justin Fields, or trade Fields and use the No. 1 pick on a college QB such as Caleb Williams.

If they do trade Fields, the Pittsburgh Steelers have emerged as the favorite to land him at -125 odds, per Odds Shark.

Some felt Fields would be the true franchise QB the Bears haven’t had since Sid Luckman in the 1940s when the team took him with the No. 11 pick in 2021.

But Fields hasn’t shown any noticeable improvement since, and this season, he put up just 2,562 yards and 16 passing touchdowns while completing only 61.4 percent of his pass attempts.

If Chicago wants Fields to remain under center, they will have to pay him soon as next season will be the final year of his rookie contract, unless his fifth-year option is picked up.

The Steelers, meanwhile, have a big question mark at quarterback two years after the retirement of Ben Roethlisberger.

Kenny Pickett hasn’t worked out, and while they managed to make the playoffs this season, simply reaching the postseason won’t satisfy their fans, who have seen them win six world championships.

There is a feeling around the league that if the Bears have a quality signal-caller next season, they would be a legitimate playoff team and perhaps even a rising power in the NFC North.
