2 Hawks Players Are Reportedly ‘Untouchable’ In Trade Talks

The NBA trade deadline is only about a month away, with teams around the league having until February 8 to make deals with other franchises in an effort to bolster their rosters for the NBA playoffs or begin what could be the start of a rebuilding process.

The Atlanta Hawks have one of the more interesting situations in the NBA right now, with superstar Trae Young and company trying to stay afloat in a very competitive Eastern Conference this season.

The team is currently sitting well below .500 and is clearly a level or two lower than the best teams in the conference, like the Boston Celtics, Milwaukee Bucks, Philadelphia 76ers, and Miami Heat.

Atlanta can’t even contend with the Indiana Pacers, Orlando Magic, Cleveland Cavaliers, and New York Knicks, which means the Hawks could be pretty active at the trade deadline as either buyers or sellers.

Even though there have been a few rumors floating around about Dejounte Murray and his availability in Atlanta, the Hawks seem adamant about keeping Young and up-and-comer Jalen Johnson, according to Jake Fischer of Yahoo Sports via NBA Central.

“Of late, Atlanta has informed numerous teams the only untouchable players on the Hawks’ roster are Young and rising third-year forward Jalen Johnson, sources said.”

With Young and Johnson reportedly off the table, it might be only a matter of time before the team moves Murray, who hasn’t been a great fit with the team since they brought him in via trade with the San Antonio Spurs in 2022.

The Los Angeles Lakers and Philadelphia 76ers have been the two teams most recently linked to Murray, with both teams potentially being a good fit for the 27-year-old.
