Every year, at least one new member is inducted into the St. Louis Cardinals Hall of Fame right next to Busch Stadium.
Last year’s big addition to the Hall was slugger and World Series champion Matt Holliday.
However, a good friend of his and a longtime teammate is on the ballot this year, and it’s none other than St. Louis native and 2011 World Series MVP David Freese.
Freese came up with the Cardinals in 2009, but finally found his groove in 2011.
His postseason heroics earned him NLCS and World Series MVP honors.
On Twitter, the Cardinals posted a must-see hype video for Freese, encouraging fans to vote for him as the newest member of the team’s Hall of Fame.
Legends are born in October: STL native David Freese joins the #CardsHOF ballot as a first-timer in ’23. Cardinals fans will never forget his heroics as NLCS and WS MVP in 2011.

The video included the biggest two hits of Freese’s career.
In Game 6 of the World Series, the Cardinals found themselves down to their last strike against the Texas Rangers.
However, Freese battled back against Neftali Feliz and hit a game-tying triple off the right field wall, giving the Cardinals another chance.
After they had rallied from a similar deficit in the 10th inning, Freese came to the plate in the bottom of the 11th.
After working the count to 3-2, Freese hit one into deep center field off of Rangers reliever Mark Lowe which cleared the wall and forced Game 7 for the Cardinals.
It also prompted Joe Buck’s famous “We will see you tomorrow night” call.
The next night, St. Louis dispatched the Rangers by a final of 6-2 and Freese was named the MVP.
