After a tough regular season that took a toll on the defending NBA champion Golden State Warriors, Steve Kerr’s squad is gearing up for what could be yet another deep playoff run.
If the standing in the Western Conference hold, the Warriors will begin their title defense in the playoffs against the closest team to them, the Sacramento Kings.
The Kings will end their long playoff drought and get the defending champions right out of the gate.
Although it would seem that Golden State would have the advantage in experience, Nick Wright of Fox Sports thinks the Warriors won’t be able to beat the Kings, nor would they be able to take down the Memphis Grizzlies.
“The Warriors are still in a position that they go home after Round 1. They’re not beating Sacramento or Memphis. In my analysis of the 2023 playoffs I am not incorporating the 2012 season.” — @getnickwright pic.twitter.com/JF8T4DIdQX

One of the most significant flaws for the Warriors this season has been the team’s play on the road, which has been atrocious.
The Warriors haven’t even hit double-digit wins on the road, with the team suffering 29 of their 37 losses away from the Chase Center in San Francisco.
Golden State has won nine games on the road and has only lost nine games at home.
It’s been a weird season for the Warriors, and being as bad as they’ve been on the road may come back to haunt them in the playoffs, as teams won’t go far if they can’t keep up their level of play in hostile arenas in the postseason.
It’ll be interesting to see if Golden State can flip the switch in the playoffs like they’ve done in the past and put together another championship run in the Stephen Curry era.
