Fans React To Today’s Vikings, David Montgomery Report

The Minnesota Vikings were in talks to make a strange signing over the offseason.

The Vikings were reportedly interested in adding running back David Montgomery to their roster, despite having Dalvin Cook.

But, some reports were surfacing that the Vikings might be interested in trading Cook.

So if that is the case, their interest in Montgomery would make sense.

According to Dov Kleiman, the Vikings attempted to sign the former Bears running back.

Montgomery ended up signing with the Detroit Lions instead.

The Vikings had success with Cook and Alexander Mattison over the past few seasons.

So when Mattison was also a free agent you could assume they were trying to replace him with Montgomery.

I wouldn’t read to much into this they probably wanted to sign David to replace mattison

Cook is under contract with the Vikings until the 2026 season, but it would be surprising to see him last that long in Minneapolis.

The running back market has been down this offseason, as many teams are devaluing the position.

You can get very good players for cheap on the open market.

Also, teams are hesitant to use a high draft pick on the position as well.

But, the Vikings could make an exception this year.

Vikings gonna steal Bijon..

Running backs were once the staple of all NFL offenses.

But now the league has become pass-first, and running backs are seen as a dime a dozen.

Cook will be 28 years old next season, and he already has 1,282 carries under his belt.

But he does have four straight 1,100+ yard seasons and has made four straight Pro Bowls.

The Vikings have made it clear that Dalvin isn’t going to be Viking for long

Last season was the first time that Cook played in all 17 games.

But it appears that the Vikings are trying to move one of their most talented players before he hits a wall.
