The New York Yankees rotation has been absorbing blow after blow.
First, it was Frankie Montas, who was declared out for months with a shoulder issue.
Then, Carlos Rodon fell victim of a forearm issue, and Luis Severino suffered a lat strain.
The situation forced them to make use of their depth: 25-year-old right-hander Jhony Brito got his first chance to impress on Sunday against the San Francisco Giants and boy, did he do it.

Brito conceded just two hits over five scoreless innings and combined with three relievers on a 6-0 shutout of the Giants in the series finale.
The changeup artist with the mid-90s sinker accumulated six strikeouts and walked just one hitter.
It’s safe to say his MLB debut was incredible.
He got 16 missed swings, 11 coming on the 28 changeups he threw.
His breaking ball (a curveball) needs work, but his good command, nice velocity and impressive changeup give him a pretty nice floor to work with.
If his breaking ball ever develops on par to his changeup or at least close to it, look out.
For now, the Yanks should be very happy they have a strong young pitcher with six years of control and a nice solid floor.
The team sent him to their Triple-A affiliate, but just because they won’t need a fifth starter for a while and need to shore up the bullpen.
In any case, it’s safe to assume he will be back.
Even if all the Yankees’ starters come back healthy and dealing, we haven’t seen the last of Brito.
He looks to have a very bright future.
