The Green Bay Packers are slated to look significantly different in 2023 than they did in 2022.

They have already lost several key players in the offseason, including Allen Lazard, and likely, Aaron Rodgers.

If Jordan Love is their quarterback in 2023, the offense might need a few more contributors to aid Love in his first season.

The Packers haven’t used first-round draft capital on a wide receiver in over 20 years, which could change in 2023.

According to a recent report from Tom Pelissero, the Packers have scheduled a visit with WR Dontayvion Wicks.

This news came after reports of head coach, Matt LaFleur, dictated that the team needed more offensive weapons.

Wicks was a two-year starter at the University of Virginia, where he racked up 87 receptions for 1663 yards and 11 touchdowns.

At the combine, Wicks measured in at 6’1″ and 206 pounds.

He also ran a 4.62-second 40-yard dash, which was one of the slowest times among qualifying prospects.

While his combine stats don’t necessarily jump off the page, Wicks does profile similar to receivers that the Packers have drafted in years past.

Pending a trade, the Packers are slated to pick 15th overall in April’s draft.

Due to their recent successes, this is the earliest draft pick that the Packers have held since 2019 when the team selected Rashan Gary 12th overall in 2019.

Despite the Packers’ reluctance to draft a first-round wide receiver, their first-round draft picks have traditionally panned out.

Will 2023 be the year that the Packers finally take a receiver in the first round of the draft, given their current lack of weapons?
