The Dallas Mavericks are limping their way to the end of the 2022-23 NBA regular season, with hope for a playoff spot in the Western Conference starting to dwindle.
Although there’s still a chance that Luka Doncic and company make the Play-in Tournament, the season has been nothing short of a disaster with an uncertain future ahead.
One primary concern heading into the summer will be the status of superstar guard Kyrie Irving and whether he wants to re-sign with the team on a long-term basis.
There have been mixed reports about Irving’s intentions, and ESPN’s Kendrick Perkins believes that Mavericks owner Mark Cuban should do everything he can to re-sign the one-time NBA champion.

Over the past year or so, there’s been a lot of speculation that Irving would love to end up on the Los Angeles Lakers and team up with LeBron James once again.
That ship may have sailed after the Lakers acquired D’Angelo Russell before the NBA trade deadline with every intention to re-sign him this summer.
If that is the case, the Mavericks might have a better chance of bringing back Irving to see if this dynamic duo of him and Doncic will work moving forward.
Another big part of this upcoming free agency period is what the impact will be on Doncic and his long-term plans, as he might start to question his stance about wanting to stay in Dallas for the rest of his NBA career if the team can’t put talent around him.
