There is little doubt that Kevin Durant of the Phoenix Suns is one of the greatest basketball players in the NBA.
The 13-time All-Star averaged 29.1 points, 6.7 rebounds, and 5 assists during the 2022-23 season and his team will now try to make an impact in the playoffs.
Legion Hoops pointed out that Durant is the very first player in league history to achieve a 55-40-90 stat line in a season.
As great as that is, he still wouldn’t qualify for MVP, All-NBA, or other league distinctions under a new rule because he has only played in 47 games this season.
Washington Wizards player Kyle Kuzma isn’t into the idea of Durant missing out on those honors because he has missed out on games.

The new agreement that was just formulated by the NBA and NBPA (National Basketball Players Association) states that athletes won’t be able to win end-of-season awards if they don’t participate in at least 65 games.
This comes after years of players earning such prizes even though they have sat out for weeks for various reasons.
The new rule is partly an attempt to eliminate load management, which has bothered fans as A-list players have sat out of many games for rest.
But it could result in certain stars, such as Durant, not making the cut when big prizes are handed out.
There are people who say this new rule is only fair.
But then there are others, such as Kuzma, who think it disrespects big names like Durant.
However, this new rule will start next season and is likely here to stay.
