The San Francisco 49ers currently have one of the deepest — if not the deepest — team in the National Football League right now.
But you know what they say: The rich always want to get richer, and they’re not the exception to that rule.
With that in mind, it seems like they’re interested in making a run at a former first-round pick, hosting Laquon Treadwell for a free-agent visit on Thursday, per NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero.

Treadwell entered the league as the 23rd overall pick in the 2016 NFL Draft, spending the first years of his career with the Minnesota Vikings before stints with the Atlanta Falcons, Jacksonville Jaguars, and practice squads of the New England Patriots and Arizona Cardinals before finishing the season with the Seattle Seahawks.
There, he caught just six passes for 42 yards, but he did play 41 snaps with the special teams unit.
Treadwell’s best season came in 2021, making 12 appearances (seven starts) for the Jaguars with 33 receptions, 434 yards, and one score.
Throughout his seven-year career in the league, the Ole Miss product has made 76 appearances (23 starts), hauling in 110 passes for 1,226 yards and five scores.
And while he hasn’t lived up to the expectations that come with being a first-round wideout, he’s still just 27 years old and could provide some depth behind their two stars, Brandon Aiyuk, and Deebo Samuel.
Also, with the Niners not having a second-round pick in this year’s draft, they might have to dig deep into the market for WR depth, making Treadwell a logical fit and addition.
