This season didn’t end like the New Orleans Pelicans wanted.

They were once the top team in the Western Conference but things were thrown into disarray when Zion Williamson once again suffered a season-ending injury in January.

Now they aren’t even going to make the playoffs.

But that doesn’t mean the future isn’t still bright for the Pels.

Garrett Temple spoke to the press about the state of his team and the hard work of head coach Willie Green and he sounded very proud and optimistic.

Stating that Green has done a “great job”, Temple said the Pelicans are “easily my favorite team to be around.”

He said that the young squad has good chemistry on and off the court and “that really bodes well for us in the future.”

13-year #NBA veteran Temple: “This is easily my favorite team to be around. That really bodes well for us in the future. The teams that play well have a lot of camaraderie and chemistry off the court.” https://t.co/QkoK6yspvs

No one can deny that this team has a lot of potential built into the roster.

Players like Brandon Ingram, CJ McCollum, and Jonas Valanciunas are playing expertly alongside younger players like Herb Jones, Jose Alvarado, and Trey Murphy III.

But even with the close camaraderie that Temple spoke of, there are still huge questions surrounding Williamson.

With yet another season lost due to injury, is the team’s front office going to change its mind about him?

Will they decide to trade him away while he still retains some value in the NBA marketplace?

Williamson was once the future of the team, a dominant player who was the first overall draft pick just a few years ago.

But the team might want to change plans in order to cater to the rest of the healthy and eager roster.

The team might be close and friendly but there is a decent chance that the Pelicans will look different when the new season kicks off in the fall.
