The defending NBA champion Golden State Warriors will head into Game 3 against the division rival Sacramento Kings without veteran forward Draymond Green, who was suspended by the league for stomping on the chest of Domantas Sabonis.
Green missing tonight’s game in San Francisco is a costly blow for the defending champions, as they lose arguably their best defender against a team that has proven to be more than worthy of going toe-to-toe with Stephen Curry and company in this first-round playoff series.
As a result of the suspension and more antics from Green, the future Hall of Famer has received a fair amount of criticism, as he once again will have to sit out a crucial game in the postseason due to an avoidable on-court altercation.
Although Warriors fans and others have come at Green for the suspension, Warriors head coach Steve Kerr continues to stick up for his leader in the locker room, saying the following via NBA on ESPN.

There’s no doubting Green’s importance to this Warriors team, and Kerr is right on the money when saying they don’t win the titles they’ve won without the four-time All-Star, but his behavior has been a persistent problem, and one the team might not want to deal with after this season.
Green will be a free agent this summer, and all signs point to the two sides finally parting ways.
If the Warriors end up losing Game 3 and or lose the series, Green will almost certainly get some of the blame due to this avoidable suspension, which likely won’t bode well for him heading into an uncertain future.
