Bat flips are an important part of today’s style of baseball.
They usually happen after a player makes some solid contact on a pitch and absolutely crushes it for a home run.
For Los Angeles Dodgers slugger Max Muncy, it wasn’t quite a bat flip, but it did have the exact same dramatic effect.
Los Angeles was struggling to muster much offense against Chicago Cubs ace Marcus Stroman on Sunday.
But with the North Siders ahead 3-2 and a runner on first base, Muncy took the right-hander deep to put the Dodgers ahead.
It was his MLB-leading 11th home run, and after it left his bat, Muncy tossed it aside like it was nothing.

Muncy has been on fire as of late.
The slugger had a bit of a tough season in 2022, hitting for a poor .196 average.
This season, the average is up to .254.
Muncy hit a total of 21 homers last season and is already just 10 homers shy of tying that mark.
It’s also still April, so there is plenty of time for him to shatter the mark.
But Muncy showed that he meant business with his bat toss.
It was clear that he knew it was gone the second it left the bat.
The home run was Muncy’s only hit of the day, but he sure made it count, and he also took a little bit of time to admire his handiwork.
Then, he dropped his bat and began his home run trot on a cool afternoon at Wrigley Field.
