The San Diego Padres and the San Francisco Giants are about to play MLB’s first regular-season series in Mexico City.
It will be on April 29-30 at Alfredo Harp Helu Stadium.
THE 2023 MEXICO SERIES IS HERE
This weekend, the Padres and Giants will face off in Mexico City, the 1st time MLB teams have ever played in Mexico City.

The league has taken five regular-season series to Mexico throughout history, but all of them have been in the city of Monterrey.
The Padres, one of the teams with the largest Mexican fan base in the league, played three of those five series in 1996, 1999 and 2018.
The Giants, on the other hand, will be playing their first international series.
The teams are already in Mexico.
Not only that, but they have spending some quality time with kids dreaming of playing baseball for a living one day.
In a video, Padres star Manny Machado was spotted wearing his Padres City Connect uniform and giving kids some ground balls to field.
He was helping them learn more about what it’s like to be a good defender in MLB.

These activities are obviously cool for kids, who get the chance to spend some time with the athletes they see, love, and admire on TV.
However, they are also great for the league as they aim to make people fall in love with baseball outside of the United States.
Making the game global is the priority.
As for the teams playing the Mexico series, the Padres are 13-14, and the Giants are 11-14, and they are in third and fourth place in the division, respectively.
Despite their mediocre records, both squads are close to the first-place Arizona Diamondbacks and their 14-12 record.
