The nightmare start for the Chicago White Sox appears to have no end in sight.

On Friday, The White Sox dropped their ninth consecutive game.

The pitching improved drastically, but the offense went silent as they fell to the scorching Tampa Bay Rays by a final of 3-2.

With the loss, the White Sox dropped to 7-20 on the season.

Chicago now has the third-worst record in all of baseball, with only the Kansas City Royals and Oakland Athletics trailing them.

They are now eight games back in the Wild Card race and nine games back of the Minnesota Twins in the AL Central.

On Twitter, Bob Nightengale of USA TODAY took note of just how bad things have gotten for the South Siders.

This is the White Sox’ worst start since the 1950 season.

In the offseason, they signed Mike Clevinger and Andrew Benintendi to strengthen the roster and appeared to be on track to bounce back from their disappointing finish in 2022.

However, baseball is never that simple, and the team has gotten off to a very poor start in 2023.

Even the Detroit Tigers are ahead of the White Sox in the AL Central.

Chicago finished at .500 last season and failed to reach the postseason for the third consecutive year.

While there’s still time to figure things out, the clock is ticking for the White Sox, who may end up being forced to sell at the trade deadline.

The South Siders have now dropped the first two games to the red-hot Rays.
