Just a few years ago, Austin Reaves of the Los Angeles Lakers was an undrafted young basketball player without a place in the NBA.
Now he’s officially in the second round of the playoffs.
Reaves was a major part of the Lakers’ success in the opening round against the Memphis Grizzlies and he’s soaking in all the success.
On Friday night, he spoke about this experience in his first NBA postseason and his team’s monstrous win over the Grizzlies.
“It’s amazing, to say the least. I wish we could’ve got it done in five at their place but to do it here in front of our fans is a lot of fun,” Reaves said after the game.

On Friday night, Reaves scored 11 points, 6 rebounds, and 8 assists in the massive win over the Grizzlies.
For the series, he averaged 16.5 points, 5.3 rebounds, and 5 assists.
Reaves has also been a pivotal part of the team’s defense too, matching up against tough competition.
All season long, Reaves has continued his ascent through LA’s roster.
He started in more games this season and also played more minutes.
Additionally, he found more love from the fans, who have made him a beloved part of the team and its culture.
The last few weeks have been huge for the Lakers and Reaves has experienced things he never has before.
But now he’s about to go through another brand new experience: the Western Conference Semifinals.
Players like LeBron James and Anthony Davis will definitely give him pointers and help him adjust to playing on such a big stage.
And Reaves has shown that he is ready and willing to do whatever it takes to win.
