While the Philadelphia 76ers get ready to face the Boston Celtics in the Eastern Conference semifinals, a big question remains for the team.

Joel Embiid was injured against the Brooklyn Nets in the first round, setting the alarms at Wells Fargo Center.

His status was unknown until today when Doc Rivers provided an update on the 2023 NBA MVP candidate.

This isn’t the best news for the Sixers, but Embiid’s status could be upgraded ahead of the start of the series.

Going against the Celtics won’t be an easy task for the Sixers, and they’ll need their best player fully healthy to challenge Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown.

Embiid suffered a knee injury in Game 3 of the Nets series, and although the Sixers got the job done, Embiid needs to be ready now.

Every season the Sixers have had a reason to be eliminated in the second round of the playoffs.

From Kawhi Leonard’s series-clinching buzzer-beater, to Ben Simmons’ collapse, and Joel Embiid’s injuries.

This is a crucial year for them since another early playoff exit could mean the end of James Harden’s tenure with the team.

Doc Rivers knows this is a very important series considering what is at stake.

Philadelphia has never gotten past the second round after the process started and this year appeared to be a good time for that to happen.

Game 1 of this series is scheduled for this Monday, and hopefully, Embiid can be ready to go against the well-rounded Celtics.
