On Saturday night, the St. Louis Cardinals’ struggles continued.
This time, they were blanked by Clayton Kershaw and two other Los Angeles Dodgers relievers.
To make matters worse, Jordan Montgomery gave the Cardinals 6.2 innings and allowed just one run, but his dominant outing was wasted by a lackluster offensive performance.
Montgomery dropped to 2-4 on the season despite lowering his ERA to 3.34.
In fact, the Cards’ offense has let Montgomery down multiple times this month.
In his last start against the San Francisco Giants, the left-hander pitched six innings and allowed one unearned run.
St. Louis lost by a final of 4-0.
On Twitter, a Cardinals fan took note of just how unlucky Montgomery has been this month.

In his last two starts, the left-hander has allowed just one earned run and has pitched into the seventh inning twice.
However, he lost both games.
Now, the Cardinals find themselves eight games below the .500 mark for the first time since 2007.
That was the last time the Cardinals finished under .500.
They went 78-84 on the heels of their 2006 World Series championship season.
Montgomery has been St. Louis’ most consistent starter this season.
He was acquired from the New York Yankees in the Harrison Bader trade last season and has been a steady presence in the Cardinals rotation.
However, his past two outings have gone to waste thanks to a quiet Cardinals offense.
Montgomery is a free agent at the end of this season.
St. Louis will look to avoid being swept as they face the Dodgers one more time on Sunday.
