The Miami Dolphins had an up-and-down season in 2022, ending the year with a 9-8 record.

While they made the playoffs, injuries to marquee players like Tua Tagovailoa ended their season earlier than anticipated.

As the Dolphins set their sights on the 2023 campaign, head coach Mike McDaniel and running back Raheem Mostert have come up with a new plan of attack.

When referencing McDaniel, Mostert said, via NFL.com, “One thing he was very apologetic about was we didn’t run enough, and he was going to do his best to change that.”

The Dolphins had the second-fewest rushing attempts in the league last season.

By limiting their rushing attempts, players like Mostert were unable to fully tap into their abilities.

This also could have been a reason that Tagovailoa suffered injuries, given the overall passing volume and predictability.

It appears last season was a learning experience for McDaniel, and he has vowed to not make the same mistakes.

The Dolphins have also put their money where their mouth is, selecting Texas A&M running back Devon Achane in the third round of the 2023 NFL Draft.

Achane was a highly-regarded running back prospect and should be a good fit alongside Mostert in the run game.

Ultimately, the Dolphins will have their work cut out for them this season, especially considering the strength of the AFC East division.

The New York Jets have gotten significantly better, largely due to the addition of veteran quarterback Aaron Rodgers.

The Buffalo Bills and New England Patriots have also taken massive strides in the offseason.

Will the Dolphins’ new plans result in a playoff berth?
