Russell Westbrook’s time with the Los Angeles Lakers was definitely troubled, and that’s putting it gently.
But that doesn’t mean he didn’t help the team and doesn’t deserve a championship ring if they win one.
Former Lakers player Patrick Beverley recently said that Westbrook would want to receive a championship ring if the Lakers win the NBA Finals this year.
This rumored request from Westbrook has a lot of people talking, including Shannon Sharpe, who is completely on board with Westbrook getting this coveted piece of jewelry.
“If Russ was malcontent, I would say don’t give him a ring, but he didn’t cause a problem. It wasn’t his fault he didn’t fit,” Sharpe said on Thursday’s Undisputed.

If the Lakers win the Finals and decide to give a ring to Westbrook, who left the team in February, it wouldn’t be the first time something like this happened.
There have been many players who have been gifted their rings even after leaving a team.
It is a sign that a player is still appreciated by an organization, even if things didn’t work out with them.
It wasn’t Westbrook’s fault that his time with the Lakers wasn’t productive, according to Sharpe.
Most reports back that up, saying that Westbrook wanted to do well and played hard most of the time.
In the end, he just didn’t fit with what head coach Darvin Ham was building.
He seems to be a much better fit with the Clippers, despite getting eliminated from the playoffs in the first round.
The Lakers are still a long way from winning the Finals.
But if they do, they will have a decision to make about Westbrook and a ring.
