The Minnesota Timberwolves beat the Los Angeles Lakers on Sunday night, which allowed them to hold onto the number-one seed in the West.
This game was much better for Minnesota than the last time they met the Lakers when LA won by 11 points.
Chris Hine reported that Anthony Edwards referenced that previous loss when heading back to the locker room.
As he walked down the hallway of Crypto.com Arena, Edwards said: “We didn’t have Gobert last time. We had him this time.”
As he was walking down the hallway, Anthony Edwards was referencing the Lakers talking a bit the last meeting. “We didn’t have Gobert last time. We had him this time,” he said for all to hear.

Edwards is referencing the game from March 10, when the Lakers won, 120-109.
Without Rudy Gobert, Edwards scored 25 points, 7 rebounds, and 7 assists during that game but it just wasn’t enough to give the team a victory.
On Sunday night, Edwards scored 26 points and 8 assists, while Gobert posted 18 points and 16 rebounds.
It’s clear that Gobert truly was a huge help for the Timberwolves, but it should also be noted that the Lakers were without LeBron James.
Additionally, Anthony Davis was out for most of the game after suffering a face injury.
Once again, these teams weren’t playing with their full rosters.
There is a chance that the Timberwolves and Lakers will meet again soon.
If the Lakers are able to win in the Play-In Tournament, they could earn the eighth seed.
And if the Timberwolves are still the top team in the West at that time, they will be tasked with playing against LA in the opening round.
When both teams have all of their stars, it’ll finally allow them to have a truly fair fight.
This may have been the last time the Timberwolves and Lakers square off this year, but if the Play-In goes in the LA’s favor, they will be together again in a matter of weeks.
