After another solid season for the Miami Dolphins, star quarterback Tua Tagovailoa is eligible for a contract extension, which he will almost certainly get and potentially reset the market for quarterbacks in the process.

However, the Dolphins seem to be taking their time putting together a lucrative long-term contract extension, even though most believe it will inevitably get done, making him a very wealthy man and perhaps the highest-paid quarterback in the league.

With the Detroit Lions recently giving star quarterback Jared Goff a massive contract extension, the pressure is on in Miami to get a deal done and more than likely top that deal.

However, Colin Cowherd of FOX Sports doesn’t seem to believe that Tagovailoa is worth breaking the bank for due to his injury history, which goes all the way back to his time playing for Nick Saban at the University of Alabama.

Cowherd believes that $37 million per season is where the Dolphins should stop in terms of paying Tagovailoa in his new deal via Dolphins Talk.

Although Cowherd has a point because injuries will always be a concern when it comes to Tagovailoa, the numbers he’s put up and what he’s done for the franchise thus far have been enough to merit a lucrative deal.

Last season, Tagovailoa played in all 17 regular-season games for the Dolphins while leading the team to 11 wins, clinching a spot in the NFL playoffs.

Even though the Dolphins flamed out in the first round by losing to the eventual Super Bowl champion Kansas City Chiefs, Tagovailoa threw for a league-high 4,624 yards, 29 touchdowns, and 14 interceptions in the regular season, which is impressive, to say the least.
