Nikola Jokic is clearly the Denver Nuggets’ best player, and they march to the beat of his drum.

Even when the other players don’t play that well, Jokic gives them an opportunity to take care of business.

However, the reason why they’ve been so great over the past couple of years is that they’re a finely-tuned machine, with players that feed off each other and multiple guys that could step up and have a big game on any given night.

That includes Michael Porter Jr., a three-level scorer who could be a primary option somewhere else, but that settles for being behind Jokic and Jamal Murray at Mile High.

Notably, Porter Jr. didn’t fare well at all in the final four games vs. the Minnesota Timberwolves, and he felt guilty for the way things went down in the end.

According to a report by Nuggets beat writer Katy Winge, Porter Jr. reached out to his teammates to apologize for his performance in Game 7, adding that they could’ve won if he had played up to his usual standards (via Legion Hoops).

Michael Porter Jr. apologized to the team for his Game 7 performance, per @katywinge.

Porter Jr. scored 4, 6, 8, and 7 points in the final four games of the series, and he shot 20, 33.3, and 25% in his final three games.

Of course, it’s still not easy to pin this loss on him, and he had to go against an elite defensive player like Jaden McDaniels more often than not, but it was still disappointing to see him struggle so much from the field.

Now, there’s nothing else to do but plan ahead for the upcoming campaign.
