The Indiana Pacers had a perfect opportunity to get a 1-0 lead in the Eastern Conference Finals, and they let it slip right through their fingers.
After trailing by as many as 13 points midway through the third quarter, Rick Carlslile’s team kept pushing the pace, forcing turnovers and knocking down shots to get the lead.
The Pacers were up by three points and had possession of the ball.
Then, a couple of avoidable turnovers, not using a timeout, and poor defense left the door wide open for the Boston Celtics to storm right back.
That’s why NBA analyst Jay Williams believes it was a legendary choke job.
Talking on ESPN’s Get Up, he claimed that as much as people would and should talk about the massive free throw discrepancy and how the referees seemed to favor the Celtics, the Pacers lost that game more than the Celtics won it.

He called out Tyrese Haliburton for turning the ball over by pushing the pace when he should’ve slowed the game down.
Williams called the Pacers out for not switching everything in that last possession, as they could’ve allowed a two but not a three.
At the end of the day, it all comes down to youth and coaching, and the Pacers might not have another shot like this.
