The Boston Celtics won Tuesday night’s Game 1 of the Eastern Conference Finals against the Indiana Pacers but there was still cause for concern.
They barely defeated the Pacers and they had many problems throughout the game.
On Wednesday’s “Run It Back,” Brian Scalabrine spoke about the team’s inconsistency and how alarming it is.
He said Boston “dodged a bullet” with their win and showed serious issues that need to be addressed as soon as possible.
“The inconsistency of the Boston Celtics is so alarming…I think they really dodged a bullet.”@Scalabrine on game 1 of the #Celtics–#Pacers series.

At this point in the playoffs, all teams should have a strong identity and know who they are and what it takes to win.
Unfortunately, inconsistency seems to be a nagging issue that the Celtics can’t shake.
It has come up again and again throughout the regular season and it is now popping up at the worst possible time.
The Celtics have had a fairly easy path to the Eastern Conference Finals, having taken down the short-handed Miami Heat and Cleveland Cavaliers before the Pacers.
Now they are playing a healthy, fast, offensively-imposing team, and that is exposing some of their flaws.
The question is if they can correct those flaws before Game 2.
Most analysts and fans still believe that the Celtics will be able to win this series and make their way to the Finals.
If that’s the case, they will face either the Dallas Mavericks or Minnesota Timberwolves.
Those are two fiercely competitive teams that are also both healthy and ready to push the Celtics hard.
Any inconsistency issues they have now will only become more apparent in the Finals if they make it that far.
They dodged a bullet on Tuesday night, according to Scalabrine, but they have problems they must fix.
