After waiting for their opponent for Game 1 of the Eastern Conference Finals, the Boston Celtics were finally able to get the next round of the NBA playoffs underway, taking on Tyrese Haliburton and the upstart Indiana Pacers on Tuesday.
Although the Pacers were given virtually no time to rest after beating the New York Knicks in Game 7 of the second round of the postseason, Indiana definitely came to play on Tuesday at TD Garden in Boston, as they were able to give the top-seeded Celtics all they could handle.
Even though it seemed like the Pacers were well on their way to pulling off the Game 1 upset on the road, the Celtics forced overtime due to an incredible game-tying shot by Jaylen Brown to end the fourth quarter, forcing overtime in Boston.
In overtime, the Celtics proved why they are the top seed in the East as they were able to take control and eventually come out with a win to take the 1-0 series lead.
Nick Wright of FOX Sports believes that this late-game meltdown is the reason why the Pacers can’t be taken seriously in this series, via “First Things First.”
“Pacers fans, this is why we can’t take you seriously,” Wright said. “This was a game that the Celtics were dying to give to you.”

Although Wright is right that the Celtics let the Pacers have every chance of winning this game, Indiana wasn’t expected to win it in the first place, which bodes well for the team moving forward.
The Pacers might be able to hang with this team in a seven-game series with a trip to the NBA Finals on the line.
