Over the past few weeks, the Los Angeles Lakers have been doing their due diligence in trying to find a new head coach after parting ways with Darvin Ham after two seasons with the team.
Although there have been several candidates mentioned in the team’s search for Ham’s successor in Los Angeles, all signs continue to point to the team hiring first-timer JJ Redick to be the new leader on the sideline.
However, things got a bit more interesting on Wednesday, with ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski providing an update about what the team is doing right now during their coaching search.
Apparently, the Lakers are in no hurry to hire a new head coach with “no obvious choice” out there, despite all the hype around Redick, via NBA on ESPN.
“This process is going to take a while. There’s no obvious choice. There just isn’t. There’s no star coach out there available,” Wojnarowski said.

The Lakers could simply be waiting out the rest of the NBA playoffs to see if any other candidates emerge as potential suitors for the job in Los Angeles, but clearly, the team hasn’t made up its mind yet due to the lack of big-name coaches available on the open market.
Only time will tell what the storied franchise ends up doing to replace Ham, even though Redick is said to be the favorite to land the job in some circles.
It’ll be interesting to see if any other names emerge as candidates as the team continues to evaluate coaches.
