The Dallas Cowboys and quarterback Dak Prescott have hit an interesting point in their relationship.
After his best career season as a pro, Prescott is entering the final year of his deal and looking for an extension.
Dallas, even though they love Prescott, also has to pay All-Pro receiver CeeDee Lamb and All-Pro edge-rusher Micah Parsons.
So, they need to be smart with how much money they hand out to each player.
Prescott spoke with the Dallas media recently about his contract situation and had this to say about why he has been able to be so patient:
“I don’t play for money…I’ll leave that to the business people…It’s about controlling what I can control,” the 30-year-old signal-caller said.

Why has be been able to be so patient?

This is such a fascinating situation in Dallas this offseason.
It’s all because of contracts.
With Prescott, yes, he is deserving of a new extension after what he did last season.
He set career-highs in completions (410) and touchdown passes (36).
However, he has been a very good regular season quarterback for a while.
Most fans know that.
The problem is what he does in the postseason.
He is just 2-5 in the playoffs and has won only one home playoff game in his career.
Again, he has led his team to three consecutive 12-win seasons and a couple of NFC East titles.
But, Prescott and his teammates just haven’t risen above in the biggest and brightest moments.
Jerry Jones and Co. can pay him all the money in the world.
But, it truly won’t ever be worth it until he takes this team to a place that they haven’t been for almost three decades.
