Not many people were as high on Luka Doncic when the Dallas Mavericks took him.
Even Dirk Nowitzki admitted that he wasn’t much of a fan of his game early on.
Fast forward to today, and Doncic is clearly one of the best players in the game, and it didn’t take long before he got his distinction.
As a matter of fact, Doncic is already making NBA history in the playoffs.
As pointed out by StatMamba on Twitter, he’s got the highest points per game average in NBA history in the Conference Finals at a whopping 32.2 PPG.

We’re talking about higher averages than the likes of Wilt Chamberlain, Michael Jordan, Kobe Bryant, Shaquille O’Neal, Kevin Durant, or LeBron James.
Doncic has had to deal with plenty of criticism, either because he has looked out of shape at times, constantly complains, or does not play defense.
This season, he’s looked in the better shape of his career, hasn’t talked to the officials that much, and is actually playing some stellar defense.
He’s already got five All-NBA first-team selections at 25 years old, and while some think of him as a seasoned veteran, he’s still got more than a decade of basketball ahead of himself if he doesn’t get hurt.
He’s now three wins away from his first trip to the NBA Finals, and while he still has plenty of work to do to catch up with Nowitzki, there’s a strong chance he’s going to go down as the greatest player in Mavericks history.
