Sometimes, NBA teams just need their superstar to say ‘enough is enough,’ and take matters into his own hands when the game is on the line.

That was the case with the Dallas Mavericks in Game 1, as Luka Doncic took over in the fourth quarter to make sure his team left Target Center with a win.

The former Real Madrid star scored 15 of his 33 points in the final quarter of the game, and he also excelled with several key defensive plays before punishing his opponents on the other end of the court.

When asked about that, he jokingly pointed out the fact that he wasn’t voted for any of the All-Defensive Teams.

As for his scoring, he took a more aggressive approach because he felt he hadn’t played well in the first three quarters, and he wanted to do whatever it took to lead his team to a win (Via NBA).

“I just said to myself we got to win this game.”

That’s just how quickly a player like Doncic can turn the page and take over.

His offensive game is pretty flawless, and even though he won’t wow you with speed or athleticism, he controls the pace of the game like not many players have been able to do in the past.

Doncic has also taken a huge step on the defensive end this season, particularly in the playoffs.

He’s actually trying, and he’s not a defensive liability anymore, locking down players on the perimeter, tipping passes, hustling, and altering shots and passes below the rim.

There’s just not much anybody can do against the Mavs when he plays that way.
