The Tennessee Titans lost a member of their community this week.

Frank Wycheck, who played 137 games at tight end for the Titans in the 1990s, died on Saturday at his home in Chattanooga, Tennessee at the age of 52, his family announced in a statement.

Wycheck was the color commentator on the Titans Radio Network from 2005-2016.

“At this time, it appears Frank Wycheck fell inside his Chattanooga, TN home and hit his head on Saturday morning,” Wycheck’s family wrote in a statement. “He was found unresponsive that afternoon. … He leaves behind two adult daughters, Deanna and Madison, both married, and three grandchildren.”

Wycheck caught 482 passes for 4,958 yards and 27 touchdowns during his career and made three consecutive Pro Bowls from 1998-2000.

He also completed 5-of-6 passes for 148 yards and two touchdowns.

Wycheck might be most remembered for playing a pivotal role in the “Music City Miracle” on Jan. 8, 2000.

Lorenzo Neal caught a squib kickoff with 16 seconds left against the Buffalo Bills and lateraled the ball to Wycheck, who threw the ball across the field to Kevin Dyson, who then took the ball 75 yards to the end zone to win the wildcard playoff game for Tennessee.

He retired in 2003 and was open about dealing with concussions and back injuries during his career.

Wycheck’s family also said they plan to work with experts for on-going brain injury and CTE research, per Wycheck’s wishes.

Funeral services have not yet been made at this time, per the family’s statement.
