Legal sports betting has gained significant traction over the past several years, and if recent trends are indicative of the future, this phenomenon is only expected to grow rapidly.
Several new states seem to be added every year, making sports betting more and more accessible for fans.
While some have argued this to be a problem, others see it as a great thing, especially as a revenue driver for states and companies.
With the emergence of readily available sports betting comes a greater awareness in the public to the latest betting lines and odds for certain things to happen.
This was made abundantly clear in a recent post from ESPN Bet, which indicated that the New England Patriots are now the favorites to draft J.J. McCarthy.

While betting odds can indicate how things will play out, they aren’t always accurate.
For instance, Will Levis’ odds to be the No. 2 overall pick skyrocketed ahead of the draft last season, but he ended up being selected in the second round.
Sportsbooks aren’t always right, which could be a positive sign for Patriots fans who aren’t fond of McCarthy as a prospect.
Prior to the odds movement, many believed the Patriots would draft Drake Maye, as he is viewed as the best quarterback available after Caleb Williams and Jayden Daniels, the supposed No. 1 and No. 2 picks, respectively.
Anything can happen on the evening of the draft, including the Patriots trading back if a team comes to the table with a significant enough offer to take their No. 3 overall pick.
