The New York Jets knew that trading for Aaron Rodgers came with some risk, but they never hesitated to pull the trigger.
Not only does Rodgers have some well-known baggage and is a veteran who handles himself a little differently than the young players, but he’s also on the backend of his career, or so it seemed.
He hinted at retirement before announcing his intention to play for the Jets, leaving people to think that this could be a one or two-year experiment at the most.
Nonetheless, judging by his own words, it doesn’t seem like he’s ready to call it quits after a short stint in New York.
As reported by Rich Cimini, Rodgers raved about the team’s potential and future, citing that their Super Bowl window could stay open for years to come and that it’s not going to be a one-and-done situation, as most of their good players are still on their rookie deals.

The Jets have put themselves in a solid position for the future, even if Rodgers were to leave.
Of course, that would put them in a tough spot again as they would look to pursue another talented quarterback to lead them going forward, but their core on offense and defense is locked up for years to come.
Even so, it’s hard to envision Rodgers taking a pay cut later in his career to help the team keep the band together for a little while, but we’ve seen crazier things happen in this league, so you never know.
