Adrian Griffin Reacts After Being Fired By The Bucks

On Tuesday, the Milwaukee Bucks sent shockwaves throughout the NBA once again, with the team deciding to fire head coach Adrian Griffin after he led the team to a 30-13 record in the first half of the 2023-24 campaign.

Griffin was the unexpected choice by the team to be Mike Budenholzer’s successor after the team parted ways with the longtime head coach following its collapse in the NBA playoffs, losing to the Miami Heat in the first round of the postseason.

Even though the Bucks are riding high as the second-place team in the Eastern Conference behind the Boston Celtics, the team felt it was time for a change, with Griffin and superstar forward Giannis Antetokounmpo not seeing eye-to-eye during their time together in Milwaukee.

According to Chris Haynes of Bleacher Report, after the team unexpectedly fired Griffin, the first-time head coach made the following statement about the situation:

“Was a dream come true. Hopefully I get another shot at it, but overall, I’m just thankful,” he said, per Haynes.

Obviously, getting fired this way with the team playing at a high level and sporting one of the best records in the league is not a good look for Griffin, as teams will likely think twice about hiring him moving forward.

However, the Bucks felt it was time for a change, which means there must have been a significant reason to do so, as the team could jeopardize the rest of the season as a result of making this decision.

With Griffin relieved of his duties, the Bucks will begin their coaching search, with Doc Rivers rumored to be the favorite to be the next head coach in Milwaukee.
