One team that is definitely in the running as the biggest winner of the first round of the 2023 NFL Draft is the defending NFC champion Philadelphia Eagles.

The Eagles made it all the way to the Super Bowl last season and discovered they have a legitimate superstar quarterback Jalen Hurts, who recently signed a lucrative contract extension to secure his future with the team.

Heading into the draft, the Eagles had a high pick but felt it wasn’t high enough to get arguably the most talented player in the draft in defensive tackle Jalen Carter at No. 9 overall.

As if that wasn’t impressive enough, general manager Howie Roseman was able to grab arguably the second-best linebacker in the draft in Nolan Smith with the second-to-last pick in the first round, which Adam Schein of CBS Sports called a “masterclass.”

“The NFL needs to change the name of the NFL Draft. It’s no longer the NFL Draft, it’s the Howie Roseman Invitational.”

The Eagles seem to be making all the right moves as the franchise prepares for what could be several years of success with Hurts under center and Carter and Smith helping lead the way for the defense in the years to come.

The only question from here on out is how everything comes together in Philadelphia and if the team can prove that last season wasn’t a fluke.

It’ll be interesting to see if the Eagles can keep up their momentum and remain a force to be reckoned with in the NFC while trying to fend off the Dallas Cowboys, New York Giants and Washington Commanders in the NFC East division.
