After a very disappointing 2022 season, the Indianapolis Colts took a bold shot when they took University of Florida quarterback Anthony Richardson with the No. 4 pick in the 2023 NFL Draft.
The team let go of Matt Ryan, the veteran QB it had traded for last season after he had been the face of the Atlanta Falcons for over a decade.
Ryan had played poorly for much of the season, and he was benched after the Colts blew a 33-0 lead and lost to the Minnesota Vikings.
As of now, another veteran by the name of Gardner Minshew is projected to be the Colts’ starter next season, but one analyst expects Richardson to take his place in that role.

Richardson threw for 2,549 yards and 17 touchdowns while adding 654 yards and nine touchdowns on the ground last season, and he is widely considered the third-best QB prospect in this year’s draft after Bryce Young and C.J. Stroud.
In fact, there are a few who feel Richardson has the greatest upside of any signal-caller in the draft due to his ability to run the football.
Foles, who is 34 years of age, doesn’t seem like a great option under center for a team like Indianapolis that is looking to get back to the NFL Playoffs.
They do possess Jonathan Taylor, one of the two or three best running backs in the league, as well as a young stud wide receiver in Michael Pittman Jr.
If Richardson pans out, perhaps the Colts will surprise some people this fall and winter.
