Damian Lillard is trying his best to force his way out to the Miami Heat.
The Portland Trail Blazers are taking a business approach to his trade request — as they should — stating that they’ll only trade him at a fair price, regardless of who makes that offer.
Some believe that Lillard will go to great lengths to get his wish granted, and even his agent admitted that he’s been in touch with multiple teams, urging them not to try and trade for him.
However, NBA analyst Monica McNutt is still skeptical about watching Lillard in South Beach for the start of the season.

She believes that, as loyal as Lillard has been and as much as the team should do right by him, she simply doesn’t trust organizations because they don’t operate that way.
That’s true, and it’s not like the Blazers’ stance on getting the best trade package is unfair or invalid.
They should only think of what’s best for the organization, the same way Lillard is thinking about what’s best for him.
The Blazers could simply refuse to trade him, even if that means having him disgruntled and not even playing.
If the Heat cannot afford to trade for him with their current set of assets, then so be it; he’s still under contract for the next four years.
Then again, in today’s player empowerment era, maybe it would be for the best if both parties could find some common ground and work together toward a friendly and rapid resolution.
