The Dallas Cowboys were coming off a heartbreaking loss, and they couldn’t afford to make it two in a row.
The narrative around them after that loss to the San Francisco 49ers was that they would be lucky to even make the playoffs, which seemed like a bit of a stretch.
Still, considering their history of shortcomings, and with all the issues between CeeDee Lamb and Dak Prescott, they desperately needed a win to boost team morale again.
That’s why former NFL star Jeff Saturday wanted to give HC Mike McCarthy his flowers (via Get Up).

Saturday stated that as much as people give McCarthy a hard time when he messes up, he now deserves credit for getting his team ready to play mistake-free football.
He believes the game would’ve never even been that close if it wasn’t for that special teams blunder late in the second half, stating that the Cowboys were in full control of the contest for the most part.
Truth be told, the Cowboys should’ve won that game and they knew it.
They need to stop playing down to some of their teams’ levels.
And while the Chargers are a great offensive team, they held them to just 17 points, which speaks volumes of their defensive prowess when they’re at their best.
Also, getting CeeDee Lamb involved in the passing game once and for all made a huge difference, and the Cowboys need to follow that same blueprint for the remainder of the season if they want to make Dak Prescott’s job a lot easier.
