The Minnesota Timberwolves have the best defense in the league.
They have the defending Defensive Player of the Year in Rudy Gobert, a very good defender in Anthony Edwards, and an All-Defensive Second-Team player and switching nightmare in Jaden McDaniels.
Even Karl-Anthony Towns is playing good defense for the first time in his career.
However, that wasn’t enough to get past the Dallas Mavericks and their bullies.
Despite their struggles from the perimeter, the Mavs still took Game 1 by getting absolutely everything they wanted in the restricted area.
That’s why Tim Hardaway Sr. believes Chris Finch’s team is officially in trouble.
Talking on “The Carton Show,” the former NBA star pointed out that even though the Timberwolves were able to take away the three from the Mavs, they might not shoot the ball this poorly in upcoming games, and they must step up in their rim protection.

Jason Kidd has his players go at Towns and Gobert on every single possession in the second half, and it worked time and time again.
Once again, Gobert was moved around the court, and he struggled to establish his defensive dominance below the rim.
As for Towns, he was bodied over and over, and couldn’t make an impact on that end of the floor either.
The Mavs have two bruisers in Daniel Gafford and Dereck Lively, and P.J. Washington is also strong and more than willing to look for contact.
The Timberwolves looked tired, but more than that, their bigs will have to step up if they want to stand a chance.
