The Los Angeles Lakers’ Game 1 win over the Golden State Warriors meant more for Anthony Davis.

It marked the first time in his career that he beat Warriors point guard Stephen Curry in the playoffs.

Previously, Curry was 7-0 in head-to-head matchups against Davis, which stems from AD’s time with the New Orleans Pelicans.

That includes one of the most epic comeback wins in the Warriors’ dynasty run with Curry making shot after shot to stun Davis and his team.

That’s why Davis knows that the Lakers can’t rest on their laurels after taking Game 1 of the Western Conference semifinals against the Warriors.

Davis noted that it’s never over when Curry is on the other side of the court.

Truth be told, that has been a common feeling around the league during the Warriors’ incredible run.

Regardless of the deficit, it seems like you can never count them out of any game, let alone a season.

The Warriors may not be the same juggernaut they were back in previous championship runs, but they’ve still shown the ability to come back from double-digits on a nightly basis.

They even managed to even things up in Game 1 despite trailing by 14 points halfway through the fourth quarter.

Then, Golden State guard Jordan Poole took a wild shot that put an end to that momentum and ultimately clinched the game for Los Angeles.

Moreover, the Warriors know they cannot drop both games at home before the series heads to Southern California.

Because of that, Davis and the Lakers know they need to be even more prepared for Thursday night’s Game 2 matchup if they want to pull off another upset.
