The Cincinnati Bengals finished the 2022 NFL season with a 12-4 record before falling to the Kansas City Chiefs in the AFC Championship.
With revenge and a Super Bowl appearance on their minds heading into 2023, the Bengals will look to make necessary adjustments to their roster to have the best chances to compete.
The Bengals’ lead running back, Joe Mixon, has recently been involved in some off-field issues.
Mixon’s off-field situation could lead to a suspension, making him unavailable for some games.
This could pave a way for Trayveon Williams to have a greater role in this offense.
In a recent article on NFL.com, Williams spoke to this situation, saying: “There’s a bigger opportunity with a little opening in the running back room.”
Regarding the potential for more playing time, Williams said: “I think I’m ready to make that adjustment.”

Williams is a four-year NFL veteran and has spent the majority of his time on the Bengals as a member of the special-teams unit.
During the offseason, Williams re-signed with the Bengals to a $1.2 million deal.
If Mixon misses any playing time, Williams could get his chance to prove to the Bengals that he is worth a multi-year extension and that he can truly impact their backfield.
In his four years in the NFL, Williams only has 47 rushing attempts, resulting in 238 yards, or an average of 5.1 yards per carry.
This is a small sample size, but, if he can continue that success, Williams should be a valuable asset for this team.
Will the Bengals give Williams meaningful playing time in their backfield this season?
