The New England Patriots were the most dominant force in the National Football League — and arguably in all sports — since Michael Jordan’s Chicago Bulls.

And while Bill Belichick deserves a lot of credit for that, Tom Brady should get most of the recognition as well.

So now that the franchise is getting ready to honor their greatest player ahead of their home opener, Belichick looked back on some of their best moments together, obviously alluding to the six Super Bowls they won.

But more than that, Belichick also raved about Brady’s work ethic, clutch execution, and ability to rise to the occasion when it mattered the most:

“Well, there are six of them that come to mind,” Belichick said, via Mark Daniels of MassLive. “Can’t say enough about Tom — what he’s meant to this organization, what he’s meant to me personally. He just epitomized everything you would want in a player — his work ethic, his ability to handle and process a lot of things on and off the field. His critical playmaking ability, instinctiveness and anticipation and decision-making at the most critical times in the biggest games in the team’s history not to mention the seasons.”

Besides those six rings, the Patriots won 17 division titles in 20 years.

They reached the AFC Championship Game 13 times, making it out of it on nine occasions and missing the playoffs just twice, including a season in which Brady only played one game due to an injured knee.

It wasn’t all good, though.

Belichick’s relationship with Brady drifted apart as the years went by, up to the point where Brady decided to take his talents somewhere else.

Brady went on to win another Super Bowl, this time with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, before retiring at the age of 45 years old.

It’s hard to think of a more accomplished athlete, and that determination to be better and competitive spirit, combined with his relentless work ethic and preparation, made him the undisputed GOAT of football, and it’ll be a long time before someone even enters that conversation again, if ever.
