The Phoenix Suns were supposed to be the team to beat in the Western Conference after adding Kevin Durant.

But as stacked as they are, and as much as they dominated the undermanned Los Angeles Clippers, they have quite a tough time matching up against the Denver Nuggets.

Their lack of depth has been a major issue thus far, and a backcourt duo of Landry Shamet and Cameron Payne doesn’t seem ready to compete at the highest level.

However, according to former NFL player Brandon Marshall, the Suns’ issue isn’t their second unit.

Brandon Marshall tried to tell me you don’t need depth in the playoffs if you have Kevin Durant and Devin Booker.

As a matter of fact, the retired wideout recently went as far as to say that the team doesn’t need a bench.

Per Marshall, it all has to do with Deandre Ayton and Chris Paul not producing to the same standards, as Devin Booker and Kevin Durant have been stellar.

Nonetheless, Durant wasn’t exactly efficient in their Game 2 loss.

Moreover, CP3 hasn’t been much of a scoring factor for years now, and he left with an injury.

Ayton’s effort has been questionable, to say the least, but he’s also been in charge of trying to keep Nikola Jokic away from the paint.

Also, basketball is a team sport, and no team can win a championship with five guys alone.

Depth matters and it was one of the biggest talking points when they traded for Durant, especially considering Paul’s age and history of injuries.

So, the talent to turn things around is most definitely there, but whether it’ll happen or not remains to be seen.
