Over the past couple of years, the Phoenix Suns have been going all out in the team’s attempt to put together a legitimate NBA title contender in the Western Conference, with the franchise making bold moves to acquire superstars Kevin Durant and Bradley Beal to play alongside Devin Booker.

Although the team hasn’t been able to live up to expectations since the arrival of Durant, the Suns hope there will be a bright future ahead as they try to put more talent around their three star players.

Along with bringing in Durant and Beal, the team also acquired Royce O’Neal in a deal with the Brooklyn Nets before the NBA trade deadline last season, who will become an unrestricted free agent this summer.

With Phoenix giving up three second-round draft picks to bring in O’Neale, it appears the Suns brass has no intention of letting him walk in NBA free agency, according to ESPN’s Brian Windhorst via Evan Sidery of Forbes.

The Suns will re-sign Royce O’Neale, per @WindhorstESPN (https://t.co/GdAe5XQPtr).

Although O’Neale is not a game-changer in the same way that Durant, Booker, and Beal can be on the basketball floor, he can be vital to the team’s success moving forward.

With the Suns failing to live up to expectations last season, getting crushed by the Minnesota Timberwolves in four games in the first round of the NBA playoffs, Phoenix must find the right pieces to the championship puzzle in a short amount of time without much cap space to use.

It’ll be interesting to see what moves the Suns make this summer and whether this team can turn the corner next season.
