After the Chicago Bulls signed up-and-coming guard Lonzo Ball in NBA free agency a few years ago, the team thought they were bringing in a big piece to the championship puzzle, with the team compiling a bunch of talented young players with bright futures ahead.

Despite having some injury issues throughout his career, Ball seemed to take his game to another level while with the New Orleans Pelicans and was considered to be a substantial free-agent signing.

Unfortunately, Ball’s biggest problem during his stint with the Bulls has been availability as injuries have become a major problem for the former No. 2 overall pick, as he’s had chronic knee issues, which have jeopardized his long-term career in the NBA.

After missing a second straight season with Chicago due to these knee problems, the consensus was that Ball had played his last game in the league and would be another promising young player that didn’t pan out because his body couldn’t hold up.

However, the Bulls have gotten optimistic reports on Ball’s health recently, which has changed the narrative in Chicago, as the team expects him to make his return to the basketball floor sometime next season, according to Darnell Mayberry of The Athletic (via Evan Sidery of Forbes).

The Bulls are now confident Lonzo Ball will make his return sometime next season, per @DarnellMayberry (https://t.co/TNAlBxVZVH).

Obviously, this is great news for the team as well as Ball himself, as it seems like things were headed in a downward spiral for the UCLA product as he’s dealt with setback after setback until now.

Only time will tell how Ball’s situation pans out, but after over two years of frustration and disappointment, things appear to be trending in the right direction.
