C.J. Stroud And The Texans Agree On Lucrative Rookie Contract

The Houston Texans are getting ready to begin training camp with a bunch of new faces.

New head coach DeMeco Ryans takes the reins of the franchise looking to bring them back to relevancy.

But the one player that everyone is excited to see is second-overall pick C.J. Stroud.

The Texans are hoping that Stroud can be their franchise quarterback and he will get every opportunity to win the job in training camp.

According to Ian Rapoport, the Texans and Stroud agreed to a four-year rookie contract.

This will pay him $36.3 million with a signing bonus of $23.38 million.

Looking at the Texans’ roster, it is clear they need a quarterback.

Ever since Deshaun Watson left they have been trying to catch lightning in a bottle at the position.

But they have finally decided to dedicate serious resources by selecting Stroud in the first round.

The former Ohio State product was seen as a consensus top-two quarterback in the recent draft class.

Some people even preferred him over Bryce Young.

Well, now both of them will have their careers compared as long as they play.

Stroud is expected to begin the year as the Texans’ starter.

But there will be plenty of growing pains as he tries to navigate through his first season.

Even in a weak AFC South, the Texans are not expected to be a playoff team.

Yet just winning games and staying competitive should be enough to keep fans excited about the team’s future.
