Things continue to deteriorate for the St. Louis Cardinals.
The team won 93 games in 2022 and cruised to an NL Central title.
However, the month of May is only three days old, and the Cards already find themselves 10 games out of first place.
On Tuesday, things got even worse, as they fell to 10 games below the .500 for the first time in 16 years.
After the game, manager Oli Marmol stated that nobody is feeling sorry for the Cardinals right now because they typically contend each and every season.
However, there is a flaw in that argument, as one Cardinals fan pointed out on Twitter.
“We’re good every year.”

The Cardinals have not finished under the .500 mark since 2007.
Each and every season since then, St. Louis has finished with a winning record.
However, that doesn’t soften the blow for fans.
The team has only won one postseason series since their NLCS defeat in 2014 at the hands of the San Francisco Giants.
After losing the NLDS in 2015, St. Louis missed the postseason in three consecutive years.
2018 was the last time they fell short of October.
However, this fan correctly points out that the Cardinals have not exactly been successful every season and that their recent postseason track record is not a good one.
Dating back to the 2019 NLCS, the Cardinals are 1-9 in their last 10 postseason games.
They have also lost in the Wild Card round in three straight seasons.
So while the Cardinals have remained in postseason contention, that has not translated into postseason success.
St. Louis is tied with the Colorado Rockies for the worst record in the National League.
