Donovan Mitchell’s first season with the Cleveland Cavaliers has been a terrific one.
The star has averaged 28.3 points, 4.3 rebounds, and 4.4 assists per game in Cleveland, shooting at 48.4% from the field and leading his team to a strong fourth-seed standing in the playoffs.
Although most people agree that Mitchell is a wonderful player, some are hard-pressed to really sum up what makes him so special.
His teammate Danny Green has a few ideas.
Speaking with Shams Charania, Green gave a great summary of Mitchell’s talent.
“He’s explosive and athletic, which I haven’t had many point guards except for Ja that’s like that,” Green said on FanDuel TV.

Noting that Mitchell is efficient from all over the court, Green said that he looks like a guard but is actually built like numerous positions on a basketball team.
He also said that Mitchell is very helpful from beyond the three-point line.
Sure enough, Mitchell’s 38.6% from the three matches his career-high from a few seasons ago.
And his 48.4% from the field is the best he’s ever done since joining the league.
The Cavaliers bet big on Mitchell and, so far, that bet has paid off.
He has already become an important and even historic part of the team.
But now it’s time to see just how far Mitchell and his Cavs can go.
They are set to face off against the New York Knicks in the first round of the playoffs.
That team is also powered by the addition of their own superstar guard: Jalen Brunson.
Mitchell has had a sensational season so far and is hoping that it carries over into the highly anticipated playoffs.
