Being an NFL quarterback means working under scrutiny that few if any players in any sport experience in their careers.
Every facet of the game is put under the microscope, and critics are quick to attach generalizations to players whether they are justified or not.
For Los Angeles Chargers quarterback Justin Herbert, there are whispers that he may lack the elusive “clutch factor.”
This accusation does not hold water, according to Chargers defensive end Morgan Fox, who recently came to the team leader’s defense.
Fox admitted on Up & Adams that “there’s been times honestly where we’ve (the defense) let him down.”

The defender noted that he’s seen Herbert make outstanding plays in critical moments to demonstrate that he indeed possesses the “clutch factor.”
Fox said there have been multiple instances where Herbert kept the team competitive in games they had no business being in a position to win.
He also showed his toughness by playing through significant injuries and staying on the field to give the Chargers a fighting chance to pull out a victory.
Like all starting quarterbacks, Fox explained that Herbert “bears the weight of…a lot of stuff on his shoulders” and faces situations where the team lets him down.
The former Oregon standout by all accounts has grown into the leadership role required of a top NFL quarterback during his time in Los Angeles.
In fact, in just four years under center for the Chargers, Herbert has engineered 11 comebacks and led an impressive 14 game-winning drives.
And his 94 touchdown passes in his first three NFL seasons are the second-most in league history.
